Nancy Lou Breivik, age 80, passed away at her home on Monday, July 18, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 1, 1930 in Toledo, OH, daughter of Norman and Marian Ross Prottengeier. Nancy attended Nathan Hale Elementary, graduated from DeVilbiss High School and the University of Toledo where she was a member of Tri-Delta Sorority. She married her third grade sweetheart, Richard Martin Breivik in 1952 and their romance spanned over 50 years. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2001. Nancy taught elementary school for several years and worked alongside her husband in the family business, Toledo Wire Products. She was an avid golfer and downhill skier. She loved to entertain and traveled around the world with her husband and friends. Nancy was a classy lady with a terrific sense of humor and strong faith. She was a wonderful wife, intuitive mother, caring grandmother and friend. Nancy is survived by daughters, Cindy Cary Streng, Patricia Krekeler, and Ann Ken Obertacz; son Richard Kim Breivik, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Bobby Izzy Streng, Vicki Gabe Tincher, Brian Streng, Elizabeth Edwards, Kelly Pete Dankert, Nick Breivik and Emily Breivik; and five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Meilink, brother, James Prottengeier, and son-in-law, John Krekeler. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 20, at 11 am.
