Nancy J Ballantyne

Nancy Joan (Reister) Ballantyne, passed away Monday, December 10, 2013 at Spring Meadows Extended Care of Toledo. Nancy was born on August 7, 1930 in Toledo to Norman and Martha (Temme) Reister and was married in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Downtown Toledo on April 6, 1953 to Robert L. Ballantyne, Jr.. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School and received her Education Degree from the University of Toledo. She began her teaching career at DeVeaux Elementary School, became a substitute teacher while raising her family then returned to teaching full-time in 1970 at Reynold’s School retiring in 1988. She had been a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, the University of Toledo Alumni Association, St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary, St. Luke Hospital Volunteers and Lucas County retired teachers. Nancy’s greatest joy in life was her family and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Leigh Anne (Neil) Kraft and Marti Beth (Jeff) Frye; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Sean) Travis, Neil Kraft III, Katie Frye and Joey Frye; great-grandson, Lincoln Travis; sister, Janet (Ed) Gannaway and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419)874-3133 on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 2PM. Friends may call from 12PM-2PM prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Petri Lutheran Church, St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, or Gentiva Hospice.
