Myrtle M. Mowel, 79, of Port Clinton, OH died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. She was born on May 16, 1929 in Rogersville, TN to Walter and Essie Ward Mathews. On May 4, 1946 in Rogersville, TN she married W. Carl Mowel, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1968. Myrtle worked for U.S. Gypsum in Port Clinton and retired in 1991 and also at Display Vendors, Port Clinton. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Port Clinton. Myrtle enjoyed quilting and loved her family, especially her great grandchildren. Survivors include: daughters: Dolores Bob Grimm and Gladys Harold Brandt both of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Richard Jennifer Cook, Jr., Travis Darlene Cook, and Mindy Brandt all of Port Clinton; great grandchildren: Coty Cook, Candace Brandt, Joshua Cook, Chase Cortez, Alexis Cook, Chloe Cook, and Quinton Cook; step-grandchildren: Kimberly Dave Woolley, Robert Grimm, IV, Shane Grimm, and Scott Grimm; many step great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Geraldine Mathews of Port Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Evelyn Mathews and Grace Bledsoe; brothers: Clyde, Jesse, and Carl Mathews; and son-in-law: Richard Cook, Sr. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
