Myron “Mike” R. Dehring, 79, of Oak Harbor passed away October 30, 2016 at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born June 14, 1937 near Rocky Ridge, OH to the late Oscar and Inez (Gutknecht) Dehring. He was baptized on July 18, 1937 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor and confirmed on May 28, 1950, also at St. John. Mike was a 1955 graduate of Salem Oak Harbor High School. He married Linda Marie Risch on July 30, 1966 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor; Mike and Linda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July with their family and friends. His hobbies included hunting, Ohio State University football and basketball, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. Mike was a life member of DAV and member of Public Employee Retirees. In his younger days, he was a member of FFA and 4-H, and was recognized as an outstanding ball player in the Sandusky-Ottawa 4-H softball league. He played and coached Little League baseball and fast pitch softball. After graduation he served in the US Army after the South Korean Reconstruction Era. Mike retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation and later worked part time for Oak Ridge Ag Supply and Salem Township Maintenance. Mike and Linda enjoyed yearly vacations to the Great Smokey Mounts in TN and NC. Surviving are his beloved wife, Linda. Brothers: Roger (Phyllis) and James (Mary). Brothers in law: Kenneth (Freda) Risch, Marvin (Judy) Risch, Ronald (Karen) Risch, Larry (Dorla) Risch and Paul Cherry. Sisters in law: Carolyn (Ed) Beard, Marlene (Bill) Webb and Rosalie (Dan) Traut. Uncle Mike is survived by 32 nieces and nephews: Michael, Amy, Terry, Twyla, Tina, Tammy, Teresa, Julie, Ken, Louis, Matt, Nathan, Steve, Brian, Denise, Bruce, Mark, Scott, Jeff, Chris, Sherri, Betsy, Ann, Amy, Leslie, Lindsay, Leanne, Fred, Vanessa, Jeremiah, Ryan and Courtney. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Oscar and Inez Dehring, in laws, Kenneth and Regina (Behnken) Risch, sisters in law, Marian Cherry and Geneva Risch. A special thank you to Magruder Hospital, Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus and Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center physicians and health care staff. Visitation for Mike will be held Wednesday, November 2, from 2-8 pm at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Pastor Cheryl Wessel will officiate the funeral service Thursday, November 3, at 11 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 9789 W. Oak Harbor SE Road, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Salem Township Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with military graveside services conducted by the Oak Harbor American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
