After a very long life of 101 years, our mom passed away with her children by her side. Muriel Jane Romp, born on November 7, 1922, to George and Alvina (Conrad) Steffen at home on Alldays Avenue, has left us on May 24, 2024. She lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication.
Muriel was a proud graduate of Libby High School and Whitney Vocational School. Her commitment to education and personal growth was evident throughout her life. On May 8, 1948, she married William Romp, and together they shared over 50 years of marriage.
She enjoyed various activities, including bowling, golf, reading and long walks. Her love for cooking led her to explore new recipes, always eager to try something different in the kitchen.
She volunteered tirelessly for Hospice and Mobile Meals, touching the lives of many in her community. Her positive attitude and unwavering commitment to family were her defining qualities. Muriel cherished attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and holiday dinners, creating lasting memories for generations to come.
As the oldest member of Hope Lutheran Church, Muriel’s faith was a cornerstone of her life.
Muriel Jane Romp was a devoted wife to Bill Romp, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded by her parents; sister, Valeria Vorderburg and granddaughter, Steffenie. She was a loving mother to Joanne (Larry) Temme, Vicki Gardner, Gary, and Doug Romp; grandmother to Alex Gardner, Samantha (Craig) Temme-Raberding, Bryan (Theresa) Gardner, and Natalie Temme; and great-grandmother to William, Kenzo, Grant, Leighton, and Reese. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Romp; many nieces and nephews; and good friend, Sharon Ahrens.
A Memorial Service for Muriel will be held July 2, 2024, at 1pm at Hope Lutheran Church.
Muriel’s family would like to thank her caring aides. Memorial Donations may be given to the Ability Center or Hope Lutheran Church.
