Sampsel Morris F Sam. Morris F. Sampsel, age 91, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2008 at St. Annes Mercy Hospital. He was born in McClure, Ohio on September 19, 1916 to Bert and Anna Stern Sampsel. Married the love of his life, Betty Ward on December 23, 1938. Sam was employed by Doehler-Jarvis for just over forty-seven years, retiring in 1981. He was the past president and current vice president of the retirees union at Doehler-Jarvis. Sam was a member of the Masonic Lodge #144 receiving a 65-year pin this year which was the first one ever given out in Toledo. He was also a member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church. Sam enjoyed bowling at Forest View Lanes, fishing, hunting and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also loved to make peanut brittle. Morris is survived by his children, Terry Shirley Sampsel, Frank Kathy Sampsel, and Sherry Larry Green; grandchildren, Scott Fast, Gina Hall, Carrie, Dallas, Trevor Shelby Sampsel; great-grandchildren, Andre, Autumn, Sienna Hall, Brennan Jenna Fast, Grant Garrett Kudzia; step-grandson, Greg Green; and sister, Marjorie Meyer. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; parents; one brother and three sisters. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
