Monica Mary Jablonski

Monica M. Jablonski, age 71, died Friday, November 12, 2010 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Monica was born January 2, 1939 in British Columbia to Daniel and Jean Hill. Monica developed a love for skating at an early age and began touring the United States and Canada as a member of the Ice Follies chorus line when she was just 17 years old. She left professional figure skating after marrying Canadian hockey player, Greg Jablonski and settling in Toledo to raise their four boys. Monica and Greg passed on their love of the ice to their sons, supporting each of them throughout their various hockey endeavors. Monica remained passionate about ice skating and has taught private skating lessons at Sylvania Tam-OShanter since the mid 1970s. Her extraordinary patience and constant encouragement has influenced thousands of children to share her love of ice skating. Monica is survived by her husband Greg; sons, Dean and his daughter, Ashley; Jeff, his wife, Kim and their children, Jordyn, Jessica, Madelynn and Maximos; and Pat, his wife, Melany and their children, Olivia, and Onna. Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth; and brothers-in-law, Robert and Michael Jablonski. Monica was preceded in death by her son, Bobby and parents. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
