Mona De Laishley

As our mom knew this day would come, she was well prepared and had this written for us. We would like to add that she was an amazing mother, known for her generosity, grace, and kindness and loved by many family and friends. We were blessed to have her in our lives.

Mona De Laishley, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. She was born in Toledo, OH to Harold and Edythe (Comstock) Courtad and graduated from Libbey High School, class of 1952. She was a longtime employee of Churchill's Supermarket on Byrne Road. Known for her artistic cakes, upon her retirement, she took up painting and enjoyed crafting her own personalized gifts. She enjoyed many years at her family cottage in Michigan where she spent times with family and friends. Mona enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, and served as Brownie Girl Scout Leader for several years, and volunteered at the UTMC gift shop. Mona was married to the love of her life, Earl Laishley, who preceded her in death in 2011.

She is survived by her children, Pat McHugh, Deb (Bill) Irving, Julie Link; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Hunter, Shawn (Jillian) McHugh, Will Irving, Paul (Amanda) Irving, Jaclyn (Todd) Keith, great-grandchildren, Chase Hunter, Noah Hunter, Emma Keith, Carter Keith, Macy Irving, Avery Irving, Liam McHugh, Madison McHugh, Owen McHugh; and one great-great-grandchildren on the way. In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Pat Steinman, Helen Emmet, and Janet Wheeler.

Friends will be received on Sunday, August 9, 2026, beginning at 1 pm at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH, where the Memorial Service will begin at 3 pm. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Beth with Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and the staff at Maumee Pointe for making her comfortable over these last few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northwest Ohio Alzheimer's and Dementia Support at Alz.org.
