Mohammed "James" A. Ash

James (Jim) Ash, 93, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on November 16th, 2023of natural causes.

Jim was born on April 1, 1930 to Alexander and Shirifa (Jazey) Ash in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. In 1943 the family relocated to Windsor, Ontario where Jim graduated from High School in 1948, then went on to technical school to study electronics.

Upon graduation from technical school Jim started a Television repair business in Windsor and when he relocated to Toledo he spent his work life in the same business. First he worked for Toledo TV and then in his own business, Television Service Center. Jim was involved in The Exchange Club and the National Electronic Service Dealers Association (NESDA).

In 1953, Jim married the love of his life Donna Mae (Hamway) Ash. Jim and Donna went on to have 3 sons Jamie, Rob and Brian.

Jim was an intense sports fan and enthusiast. He was the equipment manager for the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Team for a period of time. He met and befriended a number of future professional hockey players that he fondly talked about throughout his life. He actively encouraged and supported his children and grandchildren in their sports and other activities. Having grown up in Windsor, Jim was passionate about Detroit sports. More than anything else, Jim was passionate about his family and friends. He never missed the opportunity to visit them and along with Donna, loved nothing more than having a house full of people to cook for and entertain.

Jim was preceded in death by Donna (2002), his mother, Shirifa (2012) and his sister, Helen Abbasse (2021). He is survived by his sons, Jamie (Jackie), Rob (Charlene) and Brian (Lisa); grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Steve) Moodie, Emily (Stephan) Dusa, Megan, Robbie and Kathleen Ash; great grandchildren, Jack and Henry Moodie and Sadie and Jared Dusa. He will be missed by his family, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be held at Walker Funeral Home 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Sylvania, Ohio with visitation on November 29th from 4 – 8 PM and Funeral Service on November 30th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations that Jim supported - Disabled American Veterans, Folds of Honor, Muddy's Knothole Club (Toledo Mud Hens charity to give tickets to children that would not have the chance to attend a game) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
