Mitchell N. Clark

Mitchell N. Clark was born on November 2, 1943, to Duane Harold Clark and Edna Mae Riker Clark, in Glen Ridge, NJ. He was the oldest of three boys, with brothers William (Carol) and Scott. As a child, he loved to ride his bicycle long distances, especially a French racer which he pedaled at 50 mph.

Mitch graduated from Montclair High School, NJ, and worked at Westinghouse as a draftsman. He also delivered newspapers for Jan's News, working his way through college. He attended Bethel College in St. Paul, MN, for one year, then transferred to Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, NJ, from which he graduated with an English major and history minor in 1967.

While at Bloomfield College, Mitch enrolled in the choir and also sang in a male quartet. He met Carol Wettlaufer, who became his wife in August of 1968.

Mitch went on to study at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN, and graduated with an MDiv degree in 1971. He served as pastor at Bethel Church in Farmer City, IL; Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Orlando, FL; Fair Oaks Church plant in Fairfax, VA; and Bethany Community Fellowship in Sylvania, OH. In addition, Mitchell taught English at Walker Junior High School in Orlando, FL, and Junior High History, German, and Bible courses at Toledo Christian School (TCS), Toledo, OH. He also coached Jr. High Track and Field (both boys' and girls' teams) at Walker and TCS.

Mitch and Carol are the parents of two daughters: Sharon Ruth Clark Kutz (Jeff), of Stony Ridge, OH, and Naomi Beth Ayla, of Elyria, OH. Mitch and Carol have seven grand-children: Jacob Tyler Caddarette of Whitehouse, OH; Kaleb Parker Clark, Stony Ridge, OH; Josiah Mitchell Clark, in heaven; Amari Anest, Detroit, MI; Cassiopeia Beatrice Anest, Ann Arbor, MI; Logan Frank Vance and Allie Mari Vance of Stony Ridge, OH.

In his retirement years, Mitch enjoyed reading, exercising, spending time with his family, and mentoring and discipling a number of men. He also prayed faithfully for family members including countless nieces and nephews, former students, and friends around the world.

Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Scott, and his grandson Josiah. He will be remembered and missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home. A graveside service will immediately follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 W. Central Ave., Toledo, OH.
