Mildred "Millie" M. Nelson

Mildred “Millie” M. Nelson, 92, of Fostoria and formerly of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 after a lingering illness.  Millie was born in Port Clinton on February 2, 1930, to Edward M. and Leona (Velliquette) Cutcher, and spent all her life in Port Clinton.  She married Donald E. Nelson in Port Clinton on December 9, 1950, and on December 28, 1992, he preceded her in death. Millie worked as a nurses aid for a number of years in several healthcare settings.

Millie loved her family and grandchildren beyond all measure and made sure that they had everything they needed.  She was a very giving person who helped anyone that needed it, no matter who they were.  This dedication carried through to her involvement with the many activities at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Volunteering was her mission of faith!  When she had time, she enjoyed puzzles, cooking and crocheting afghans and other handmade items for friends and family.

Millie is survived by her children, Donna M. (Gerald M.) Rife, Bonnie J. (James H.) Wood, Barbara E. (Michael L.) Mulligan and Samuel L. Nelson, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and siblings, Dorothy (Dick) Cover and Rose Pachar.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, brothers, Charlie, Fred, and George Cutcher, granddaughter, Alexis Kuhlman, great grandson, Devin Kuhlman, daughter-in-law, Debbie Nelson and friend, Harry Gebhardt..

Visitation is scheduled for Millie on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 10 AM – 12 PM, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington, St. Port Clinton.  A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 12 PM with interment in the Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.  The family suggests memorial be directed to Bridge Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, OH 45840.  Online condolences may be shared at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
