Mildred Millie E. McGuire, 92, formerly of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday evening, November 23, 2016, at Promedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. Mildred was born September 16, 1924, in Leipsic, Ohio, to Lawrence and Frances (Seimet) Roof. On January 25, 1947, in Leipsic, she married Robert F. McGuire and he preceded her in death December 16, 1982. After graduating from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1945, Millie worked as a registered nurse for 34 years, having worked at Maumee Valley Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital and lastly at St. Charles Hospital in surgery and recovery. She loved being a nurse and would do home health care before it even became an option. It started with her taking care of her father after having a stroke, to helping those in her senior mobile home park with trips to doctors appointments, blood pressure checks and looking in on those who were ill. Family was everything to Mildred as she became involved in her childrens activities from keeping score for her sons baseball team, being a Girl Scout leader, softball coach, band parent and rooting for the girls basketball team of Cardinal Stritch in the 1970s. She taught her daughters to cook, sew, crochet and knit. Millie spent her winters in North Ft. Myers, Florida, for over 26 years coming home for the summers and Christmas holidays. Millie is survived by her son, Dennis (Robin) McGuire, daughters, Frances (Vince) Heintschel, Patricia (Dr. David) Mallory, Kaylene (Alan) Nissen, her brother, Wilbert Roof of Columbus Grove, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Leona Horstman and Marcella Hutchinson, and brothers, Leonard, Alfred and Leo Roof. Family and friends may visit 4-8 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 Main St., Genoa, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
