Mildred Jean Krumnow Gackstetter, 83, of Elliston, Ohio, went to her heavenly home Thursday afternoon at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on October 28, 1925, to Henry A. and Mildred K. Brough Harder. On May 9, 1946, she married Nelson Krumnow of Martin, Ohio, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1964. She married Lewis Gackstetter in April 1975, who also preceded her in death. Mildred graduated in 1943 from Oak Harbor High School and later graduated from the Toledo Academy of Beauty School, Toledo, Ohio. She worked fifteen years as a beautician in her home Country Charm Beauty Shop and thirty years as a school secretary at Graytown Elementary. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and playing cards at the Senior Centers. Mildred was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, Ohio, all of her life. She was a life member of the Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Genoa. She loved reading poems by Helen Steiner Rice. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Kathy Krumnow of Elliston and son, Paul Krumnow of Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Frank, Lyle, Robert, Don, and Max Harder. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at St. Paul UCC with Rev. David Voll officiating. Interment will take place in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul UCC, Oak Harbor, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
