Mildred Andrews, age 89, of Toledo passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 15, 2010 in her daughters home. She was born December 6, 1920 in Lawrence, MA. to Stephen and Etta May Ferrin. She was an Army Air Corp veteran serving the military hospital in Colorado Springs during World War II where she met and married her husband of 47 years, Louis Andrews, Sr. Mildred was a licensed practical nurse and was employed in Labor and Delivery at Toledo Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1987. Mildred was past secretary for Conn-Weissenberger Post of the American Legion and a past secretary for Fraternal Order of Eagles, Toledo. She was an avid traveler, a member and leader for the Girl Scouts of America, past secretary for various bowling leagues and enjoyed crafts and playing euchre. The widow of Louis O. Andrews Sr., she was also preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth Gouldthorpe; and grandchildren, Karyn Andrews and Zachary Miescher. Surviving are her daughter, Melinda Gary Parkinson; sons, Louis O. LouAnn Andrews, Jr., Stephen Mary Andrews and Donald Linda Andrews; grandchildren, Kerry Ed Gozdowski, Lisa, Nathan and Jason Andrews, Charles Cherene Marckel, Kristie Marckel, Douglas Sarah Andrews, Mason and Stephanie Andrews, Sarah Christian Miescher and Kellie and Bryan Andrews; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jessica Gozdowski, Aiden and Austin Marckel, Samuel Miescher and Lindsay Andrews. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Thursday from 2-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 AM in Northwest Christian Church 1590 W. Temperance Rd. Temperance, Michigan with burial to follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. American Legion Post Services will be conducted Thursday evening in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post.
