Mike Gabel

Mike Gabel, 54, of Oak Harbor, OH died at his home on Friday, October 20, 2017. He was born in Fremont, OH on July 24, 1963 to Mary and Dave Gabel. On July 17, 1993 he married Susi McLaury and welcomed a son, Cody. He graduated from Lakota High School in 1981. He bartended at Port Clinton Yacht Club for 17 years. He went on to purchase the Anchor Inn and rename it Mikes Tavern Drive Thru in 2012. He discovered he had cancer in October of 2012 and fought this horrible disease until he succumbed to it. He was a wonderful husband, awesome dad, and the best PaPa ever. He is survived by his wife, Susi, son, Cody (Megan) Gabel, grandchildren, Henry, Everett, and Josephine, brothers, Kevin (Jody), Todd (Ann), and Nick (Stacey), sisters, Amy (Tim) Tiell and Beth (Tim) Light, brother-in-laws, Bill (Maria) and Mike (Robin), sister-in-laws, Marsie and Casey (T.J.), mother-in-law, Carol McLaury, father-in-law, Max (Barb) McLaury, and many nieces nephews. Per Mikes wishes, cremation will take place under the direct care of the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH and private family services will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Mike may be given in care of the family.
