Mickey Herl

Mickey Herl, 73, of Catawba Island, died at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 13, 1936 in Cleveland, OH. Parents were Robert and Thelma Morehead Spangle. Mickey graduated in 1954 from Angola High School, Angola, IN. On September 3, 1971 in Toledo, OH she married James C. Herl, and he survives. Mickey was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother that enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was a past president of the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters, a lay coach for the Port Clinton cross country team, and a member of the Catawba Island Club womens golf league. In addition to her husband of 38 years, Jim, she is survived by her sons: Dr. Brian Dee Fahey of Delaware, OH and Patrick Chrissie Fahey of Bay Village, OH; daughter: Jennifer Herl of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren: Katie, Casey, Patrick, Nate, and Mallory. She was preceded in death by her parents. Gravesides services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Catawba Island Cemetery, Catawba Island, OH. There will be a celebration luncheon immediately following at the Catawba Island Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
