Michael Andrew Wilk

February 22, 1939 — March 9, 2025

Michael Wilk passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio – Ebeid Center. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Agnus Wilk on February 22, 1939. He moved to Toledo in 1958, where he met the love of his life, Jane Lilje, while taking ballroom dancing lessons at Eddie Hanf studios. They were married in 1960.

Mike retired from Owens-Illinois in 1997, after 34 years of service. Most of his career was in the Plastic Products Division. He traveled extensively for the company, both statewide and worldwide; to France, England, South Africa, and Australia.

Following retirement, Mike and Jane traveled in their motor home and spent winters in Florida, Texas, or Arizona; and every summer they spent several weeks in Indian River, Michigan. They both enjoyed golfing and often stopped on the way home to try out a new course.

Mike was a long-time deer hunter. He rarely missed opening day in northern lower Michigan. He also enjoyed snowmobiling up north.

Mike was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, and also All Saints Catholic Church in his younger years. He was active in the Callander Court Condo Association. He was president for three years and served on the board for several years.

Mike had a gift of making friends wherever he went. His warmth, humor, and love for good conversation – often shared over a cold beer – made him a beloved presence in his neighborhood. “Wilk Park” was more than just a Friday night gathering place for drinks and pizza; it was a testament to his ability to bring people together and create lasting connections.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard, and sisters, Mary Wilk and Barbara Cahill. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane, daughter, Michelle (Dave) Brigham, sons, Jim (Lisa) Wilk and John Wilk, grandchildren, Shannon (Bill) Schrauder, Chelsea (Greg) Heban, Kacie (Mike) Bell, Kelly (Adam) McNalley, Sarah (Danny Willier) Wilk, A.J. (Blanca) Wilk, Jami Lynn (Jeffrey) Halbert, Michael Ross Wilk, and Stephanie (Erik Somers) Wilk, and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Vanessa, Micaela, Landon, Kinleigh, Jordan, Noah, Theo, Luke, Fynnigan, Jaxon, Paislee, and CeCe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
