Michael Alan Whitacre

Michael Alan Whitacre age 64 of Maumee, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 18, 2018 in his home. He was born in Wood County on January 29, 1954 to Jackson Wayne and Dortha Belle (Sterling) Whitacre. He married Margaret (Davis) on March 23, 1974. Mike was a proud member of Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He was employed by Dunbar Mechanical, Toledo, Ohio until he retired in November, 2013.” Mike was a family man who adored all of his six grandchildren. He was a soccer coach for Maumee Express for 25 plus years. Mike enjoyed traveling with his wife, golfing with his sons, spending time with his daughters, fishing with friends, car and horse races with his brothers and rides in the truck with his canine companion, Gus. Surviving is his loving wife, Margaret M. Peggy Whitacre; son, Jason W. (Abbe) Whitacre; daughter, Carrie M. (Stephen) Cline; grandchildren, Reid, Graeme, Nohl, Addelyn, Kathryn and Vivian; brothers, Jack (Betty) Whitacre, Daniel (Diane) Whitacre; sisters, Barbara Middleton and Mary (Don) Genalo. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
