Michael Allen Smith

Michael A. Smith, 72, of Millbury, Ohio died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in his residence after a sudden illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 20, 1948, the son of James and Margaret (Swarbrick) Smith. He married Julie D. Johnson in Genoa, Ohio on April 17, 1999 and she survives. Mike was Sergent on the Genoa Police Department for 25 years and upon his retirement he continued in security services. Mike was a people person with a special attachment to the kids of Genoa. Whenever he was patrolling the kids waved and headed out to greet him! In his free time Mike enjoyed riding his Goldwing, woodworking, playing video games and sitting around a campfire with his family. Survivors include his wife, Julie; children, Candy Smith, Carrie Young, Michael (Ruth) Smith, Jr., Casey (Brian) Smith, Jeremy Braddock, James Braddock and Brandon Braddock; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. Visitation for Mike will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in the Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury. Per the state mandate, face masks will be required at both the visitation and graveside services and we ask that social distancing be respected. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
