Michael Thomas Smidutz, 66, of Oak Harbor, OH lost his courageous, hard fought 3 ½ year battle with lung and liver cancer on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Stein Hospice Inpatient Unit, Sandusky, OH. He was born on May 19, 1955 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to John and Kathryn (Richardson) Smidutz. Mike loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Mike also was so proud to have been a member of The Ohio State Marching Band. TBDBITL! He was a huge fan of the Buckeyes, Browns, Indians, and Cavs. Mike is survived by his wife, Shannon of 18 years, sisters, Karen Smidutz of Oak Harbor, OH and Patricia (Nick) Sostaric of Logan, OH, son, Michael (Amber) Hunter of Highland Ranch, CO, daughter, Katie Hunter of Denver, CO, step-son, Michael (Cindy) Zeiler of Millbury, OH, step-daughter, Alicia (Brad) Zeiler of Whitehouse, OH, granddaughters, Zoey, Madison and Riley Hunter of Colorado. He was also Papa Mike to Lily, Rose, and Iris Zeiler of Millbury, OH. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffery.
