Michael David Sexton

Michael David Mike Sexton, of Toledo, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Valentines Day, February 14, 2016, as a result of an aortic aneurysm. He was 63. A Toledo native, Mike was the third child of Richard T. and Mary Jane Sexton. He is survived by his brothers, Rick Sexton and Larry Sexton; sister, Lynette Reiter; sister-in-law, Susan Sexton; twelve nieces and nephews; seven grand-nieces and nephews; many cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-in-law, Helen Sexton and Patricia Sexton, and by his much-loved aunt, Virginia Chapman. Mike was a 1970 graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Dayton and the University of Toledo. During the mid-1970s, Mike and his close friend Don Downing formed and operated The Ohio Insulation Company. In 1980, Mike moved to Southern California where he lived for more than twenty years. While in California, Mike was employed in various retail positions and had a successful career in store management. In 2003, to the delight of friends and family in Northwest Ohio, Mike moved back to Toledo. Here he was employed for a short time as a letter carrier and then went into business for himself as an independent loan processor. Mike was smart, funny and had a big heart. His passions were his siblings, his extended family, loyal friends, and sports - especially Ohio State football and Sunday morning golf. He loved the Chapmans and the extended family of Don and Sue Downing, who counted him as one of their own. His departure was sudden; he will be sorely missed. A funeral mass to celebrate Mikes life will be held at Regina Coeli Church, 530 Regina Pkwy, Toledo, OH, on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice and it would please Mike to think that those who care for him might perform some random act of kindness in his honor.
