Michael J. Martishius, 50, died in his sleep, Saturday, July 15, 2017 from natural causes in Wilmington, North Carolina. Michael was born April 18, 1967 in Toledo, Ohio to Walter A. and Virginia A. Martishius. He grew up in Holland, Ohio and graduated from Springfield High School in 1986. Michael left Holland to work in the movie industry and has been steadily employed for the past 25 years as a Scenic Artist and Painter. Michael worked on over 50 movies and television shows during his career but considered A River Runs Through It (1991) and Super Mario Brothers (1992) his favorites because he and his brothers Wally and Jimmy were able to work together on those projects. He most recently worked on the TV series Good Behavior. Although his talent was noteworthy, the strong friendships he fostered and his sense of humor will be sorely missed by his fellow union workers and the artistic community of the entertainment industry. A few of the most important days in Michael’s life include the day his daughter Kasey was born, marrying his high school sweetheart Sherry, and celebrating his mother’s 80th birthday. Michael loved all of his family, cherished his friends, and took great pride in his work. He passionately loved animals of all kinds, being in nature, and looked forward to meeting his grandson. His humble demeanor and willingness to always put others first will be the qualities most missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Black); son, Timothy Koback II; stepson, Dylan Anderson; daughter Kasey L. Martishius (Josh Bylica); grandson, Carter James Bylica; mother, Virginia A.(Strzechowski) Martishius; siblings, Mercedes A. Martishius-Slagel (Michael), Walter P. Martishius, Elizabeth M. (Robert) Jackson, Susan M. (Michael) Short, Christine Martishius, James L.(Cindy) Martishius; Mother and Father-in-Law, Sharon and Al Black; Brother-in-law, John Black; Sister-in-law, Kellie Black; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many close friends of the family including Robert and Terri Baumgartner. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Anna (Luka) Martishius and Stanley and Mary (Cislo) Strzechowski; and father, Walter A. Martishius.
