Michael Malczewski

November 11, 1985 — November 30, 2023

Michael Anthony Malczewski, aged 38, fondly known as “Zoo” or “Ski” to most, tragically passed on November 30th, 2023. Michael was born on November 11th, 1985 to Cynthia (Martinez) Neptune and Ralph “Tony” Malczewski. Michael was also cared for like a son by Charles “Chuck” Neptune from the time he was two.

Michael graduated from Springfield High School in 2003 and soon after joined the United States Air Force. He was medically retired in 2019 from Dover Air Force Base as an E6 Technical Sergeant after a 16 year long career serving our country.

Michael accomplished much in his life but his greatest accomplishment was his children. He loved his daughters, Natalie (13) and McKenzie (11), and his stepsons, Richard (14) and Jack (7). All he ever wanted was for them to grow up well and have the tools to live as successful adults. His love for them was strong and fierce, and talking about how much he loved them was one of the only things that would make him cry. He leaves behind big shoes for them to fill.

Michael married Brittany (Mumford) on July 1st, 2022 after dating since 2019. He met Brittany when he was still living in Delaware. Both of them having been through a lot in their lives, they found peace within each other. They connected over their love for their children, music, movies and humor. Other than his children, Michael loved Brittany more than anything in the world. Brittany was Michael’s best friend and vice versa. Michael, along with Brittany, made a strong parental force for their children. Michael would often speak in very high regard of Brittany and how thankful he was for her and how happy she made him. His smile was the brightest when he was with Brittany.

Michael was a hero to his younger brothers, Justin and Blake. And as the oldest by 7 years he imparted much wisdom to them as he could. After returning to Ohio in 2020, he was able to spend significantly more time with them and their children. He often spoke of how proud he was of both of them.

Apart from being an amazing father and husband, Michael’s favorite thing was football. He grew up with both sides of his family loving football and eventually started playing in junior high. His high school career started as a Central Catholic Irish and ended as a Springfield Blue Devil. Win or lose Michael loved playing with all his heart and when he wasn’t playing, he was rooting for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish. He was always the odd man out wearing Kelly Green in a sea of Scarlet and Grey, and he was proud of that because it holds true to his desire to stand up for what you believe in, even when everyone else tell you you’re wrong.

Michael will forever be remembered for his smile that could light up a room and a laugh that could drown anyone or anything out. He had an infectious personality. His humor and booming voice drew so many people into his life and made a lasting impression on so many.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents: Merida Martinez, Chuck and Diane Neptune and Ralph and Virginia Malczewski. Michael is survived by his wife, Brittany, his children, Natalie, McKenzie, Richard and Jack. His parents, Cynthia and Chuck Neptune and Tony Malczewski. His Grandfather, Benito Martinez. His brothers, Justin (Amanda) Neptune and Blake Neptune. His nephew, Ryker, and his nieces, Kinsley, Aliyah and Kalie, and an expanse of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
