Michael Stanley Kulakowski

October 6, 1947 — May 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Stanley Kulakowski, who died peacefully on the evening of Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Born on October 6, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Mike was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather. He spent 33 years working at Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, as an apprentice in the I&C shop, then in supervisory and training positions in later years. Mike took pride in always doing his job to the absolute best of his ability and was known for his priority in the safety of his co-workers and trusted for his honesty regardless of the situation. He believed in treating others with kindness and mutual respect. Co-workers also enjoyed his humor and quirky anecdotes that were collected and affectionately coined as "Kula-isms".

Mike always had a love and appreciation for music of many varieties. He shared that love through his gifted musical talent of playing the accordion and organ from an early age and throughout his life. Mike had many other talents, including carpentry, the ability to trouble-shoot/fix anything, and create dazzling outdoor Christmas light displays and décor that brightened the neighborhood year after year, creating joy and wonder for children of all ages while never overshadowing the true reason for the season.

Mike was strong in his faith and an active member of St. Cyril & Methodius and All Saints Catholic Church throughout his life in Rossford, Ohio. For many years there, he was the outdoor "grill master" at the parish festivals and a faithful volunteer selling cards with his wife and calling Bingo at All Saints. He was always giving and generous with his time, talent, and treasure to help others in need.

But his greatest joy was always his family. He was a steady presence and made sure they always had more than they needed. Mike was always a loving source of comfort and guidance to his family and source of wisdom for all who knew him.

In recent years, Mike faced a long and courageous battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. Just like he navigated all of life's challenges, he managed this illness with grace and strength, and his playful spirit remained a light to our family even in challenging times.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julia Ann; his children, David Michael Kulakowski (Tonya) and Debra Jo Diehlman (Dennis); his two grandchildren and light of his life: Paul and George Kulakowski; his brother, Steven Kulakowski (Sharon), sisters, Susan Bojarski and Mary Kay Wing (Timothy); as well as an extended family, loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Michael Kulakowski; and his mother, Mary Jane (Szabo) Kulakowski and his in-laws, Mathew and Elizabeth Vedra.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 2-7 P.M. with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at 830 Lime City Rd, Rossford, Ohio. Visitation will contiinue Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10 -11 a.m. with a funeral mass beginning at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church 628 Lime City Rd, Rossford.
