Michael C. Kristoff, age 83, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born May 31, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Frank and Anna Nistoff Kristoff. Michael was a graduate of Clay High School where he played football. He was an avid Michigan fan, proudly sporting the maize and blue as he followed Michigan football. He began his career at Dohler Jarvis as a Tool and Die Maker for almost 20 years. Michael then began his own business, Kristoffs Commercial Gas and Electric Company which he owned and operated for nearly 40 years. Family, church, and friends were most important to Michael who was known affectionately as Dedo to his grandchildren, which is grandfather in Bulgarian. His Bulgarian-Macedonian culture was very important to him and he enjoyed passing on expressions of his culture to his children and grandchildren. He was a charter member of the Bulgarian-Macedonian Cultural Society. Michael was a selfless caring man who will always be remembered as willing to lend a hand to others. He was also known as the Handyman or Mr. Fix It. Michael enjoyed racing sprint cars for many years and was an avid collector of stamps and coins. A member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Rossford, he was a founding father of St. Elias Orthodox Church where he was a member for most of his life. He was known as the Coffee Man and a long-time council member. He was a past member of the Orthodox Bowling League. Preceded in death by his wife, Para; brothers, George and Louie Kristoff; and sister, Florence Kanneman; he is survived by his sister, Mary Shoemaker; son, Ken Kristoff; daughters, Denise Tom Colturi, Diane Walt Ingram, and Lisa Doug Thabit; his grandchildren, Amy Chris Penna, Julie, Jason and David Coluri, Kyle and Krystal Kristoff, Rhett Ingram, Nikki Ben Price, Kelly Ingram, Ashley and Sarah Thabit; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ava Ingram, and Everett Price. Friends and family may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd on Friday from 4 to 8 PM with Trisagion prayers at 5:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 PM at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 738 Glenwood Rd., Rossford, OH. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
