Michael Kenneth Hill

Michael K. Hill, age 57, of Toledo, OH passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family following a 7 month battle with cancer. He was born on January 19, 1954 in Toledo, OH to Kenneth Hill and Barbara Hill-Bollett. Michael was married to Sandra Schaefer on April 27, 1996. Michael attended Sylvania High School and obtained his GED following a 3 year enlistment in the Army at the end of the Vietnam Conflict where he was honorably discharged in 1974. Michael had an eclectic career that included being co-owner of Pet Express which allowed him to work with the animals he so dearly loved and also many driving and truck driving occupations that allowed him to indulge in his love for traveling this country. Michaels love of driving extended to the spectator sport of auto racing from the Indy/Cart series to Formula One to Nascar which he shared with his father and sons. Michael is survived by his father, Kenneth Hill; wife, Sandra Schaefer Hill; sons, Michael W. Hill and Matthew C. Hill; sister, Vicki Dick Long; uncle, Sonny Berry; aunt, Pat Meinert; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Berry Hill-Bollett, stepfather, Fran Bollett, and step-brother, Todd Bollett. Friends are invited to join the family on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 2-8pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. A military tribute will be held at 6pm by the American Legion. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11am at Memorial Lutheran Church, 3215 Douglas Rd. where the family will greet guests starting at 10am. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of NW Ohio, Cancer Connections of NW Ohio, the Toledo Area Humane Society, Memorial Lutheran Church or the charity of the donors choice.
