Michael J. Geier

Michael J. Geier, 72, of Catawba Island, OH, passed away, Sunday, May 08, 2016. He was a Cleveland, OH native, attending the University School, Chesire Academy in Connecticut, as well as Ashland University and the American Graduate School of International Management. Michael was the son of Phil and Jane (Gillen) Geier of Bratenahl, OH. He was the President of The Insurance Benefits Group Co., of which he founded in 1978. Michael also was a Broker for numerous Insurance companies, with a specialty in Health Insurance. Prior to this he was the President of The Employee Welfare Administrators, Inc. This firm administrated The Health Insurance Trust, which was the first small group Trust to compete with Blue Cross of Ohio. Michael was on the Board of Hiram House Camp. He was a member of the Catawba Island Club and the Rockwell Trout Club. Those left to cherish his memory are: Partner: Marjorie White; Dear Daughter: Marissa (Kevin)Goecke, of Sonoma, CA; Son: Philip Geier II, of Westlake, OH and Brothers: Philip Geier, Jr. of Palm Beach, FL, James Geier, of Sun Valley, ID and Richard Geier of Lyndhurst, OH. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Peter & Tim Geier. Friends may call from 3-4:30PM, Wednesday, June 01, 2016 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a Memorial Service conducted by Father Jim Brown at 4:30PM.
