Michael John Collins

Michael John Collins (Mike), born to James and Lois Ann Collins on April 22, 1957, died peacefully in his home in Sylvania, Ohio, on October 26, 2021. Michael grew up in west Toledo attending St Catherine’s School and Roy C. Start High School. Michaels professional career was in food service and had an impeccable work ethic and was a loyal and dependable employee at Dave and Busters. He was often awarded recognition by his employers for such dedication. He had a big personality with a kind heart and had a keen sense of justice. His generosity was contagious; he would literally take the coat off his back in the middle of winter and give it to a person in need. He always enjoyed conversation, especially sports, and was an avid Buckeye fan along with being a Walleye fan. He truly enjoyed spending time with friends and families where he was a great storyteller, not leaving out any detail, and could make you laugh. Mike met the love of his life, Laura Webb Collins, in 2002 and enjoyed their time taking family vacations, grilling out and spending time with family. They were very close to and involved with the caretaking of their eight grandchildren. Michael is survived by his wife Laura, 2 stepchildren Christopher (Desiree)Singer and Bethany Singer, eight grandchildren and six siblings: Daniel, Kristine (Joseph) Kunkle, James (Carol), Douglas (Rebecca), Robert (Tammi), and Glenn (Joni). Michael was preceded in death by his parents Lois Ann and James Collins and step-daughter Sarah Singer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dave and Buster’s HEART fund. Visitation will be on Saturday October 30, 2021 at St. Catherine’s Parish, 4555 N. Haven, Toledo, from 10:30-11:30 with funeral mass following. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home, 419.841.2422.
