Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Michael Raymond Cannell, age 73, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2021. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 31, 1947, and raised in Canton, Mike loved his family, friends, and sports. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavs, and Notre Dame fan. He played Canton Class A League baseball for Golden Lodge in his late teens, golfed throughout his life, and taught his daughters how to play both. Mike was a member of the Army Reserves and a founding member of the Alpha Nu Omega fraternity along with his cousin Marty at the University of Dayton, where he met his college sweetheart and wife of 50 years and his lifelong best friends. He loved to fish and boat on Lake Erie with his brothers and family, spending vacations on and around Catawba Island, where he eventually retired after 38 years at Kemper Insurance. Mike will be remembered most for his love for his girls--his wife, daughters, and granddaughters. He was always supportive and proud of their achievements and there whenever they needed him, watching every softball game, cheer competition, and everything in between. They will miss going to Disney World with him and hearing him say, "it's too late to turn back now," before plunging down his favorite ride, Splash Mountain. They'll also miss his famous steak and pizza. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Ward) Cannell, daughter Jennifer Cannell, daughter Megan Cannell and son-in-law Eduardo Lobato, daughter Katherine Cannell and fiancé Joseph Lombardi, granddaughters Shannon, Isabel, Emma, and Lucy, step-grandson Evan, brothers Tom, Rob, and Danny, cousins, niece and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael J. Cannell and Mary B. Cannell, and brother, John "Jack" Cannell from Canton, and many loved ones—Helen, Lenny, Archie, and Tim, to name a few. Mikey, Reds, Rookie, Daddy, Papa, Pillow with Legs—you were the sweetest, kindest, most selfless, and amazing man. You are greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Visitation for Mike will be Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH. Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Grove Cemetery, Kenton, OH. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
