Michael B. Calhoun

June 25, 1963 — August 15, 2024

Michael Brian Calhoun, 61, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away at Toledo Hospital on

August 15, 2024. Born on June 25, 1963, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. to Vivian

(Davis) and Paul Ernest Calhoun, Mike was a man of remarkable resilience and

boundless creativity.

Mike's life was a testament to the power of humor and faith. Despite the challenges he

faced—being a "toothless, 1-legged quadriplegic with MS"—he knew he was blessed. A

talented cartoonist and Air Force veteran, Mike's creative spirit and zest for life shone

brightly. He was a devoted collector of comic books and an enthusiastic fan of Star

Wars, Star Trek, and Godzilla. His sense of humor, described by many as that of a

"goofball," was a source of light and laughter for all who knew him.

Mike's love for his wife, Taghred Nabil Shannak, was evident in their 21 years of

marriage, a union marked by profound devotion and mutual care. Taghred, who took

care of Mike around the clock, was his steadfast partner and cherished companion.

Mike's faith was central to his life; as a dedicated member of the Presbyterian church,

he held his belief in Jesus close to his heart. Anyone who knew him saw how he lived

his faith through his deeds.

He is survived by his wife, Taghred and children, Shawn and Mark; his grandchildren,

Addison and Carson; and his mom, Debra Shannak. He leaves behind a loving

extended family, including siblings Firas and Robyn Shannak, Rawan and Bryon

Ramey, Ruba and Eric Harben, Noor and Ehab Ally, as well as nieces and nephews

Quintin, Renee, Dylan, Paradise, Elijah, Emmett, Nala, and Yara.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Vivian Calhoun and his sister,

Patricia Calhoun. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.
