Michael J. Burkett

Michael Jemail Burkett, age 73, passed peacefully Monday morning, May 16th, 2016. He was born in Toledo on October 28, 1942 to Nagib and Reta Fern Watson. Mike graduated from DeVilbiss High School and attended the Ohio State University. After college, he drove truck for Jones Motor and Preston 151. Following retirement, Mike enjoyed his time as an NRA Benefactor Member and certified firearms instructor. He was an honest, thoughtful and generous individual to all and a devoted father and grandfather. His compassion was felt, and will be forever remembered by many. He was very active in Masonry for over 37 years and served in multiple Masonic Bodies. He was a proud Past Master of Toledo Fort Industry #144 and received the Meritorious Service Award for his dedication. He is survived by his son, Michael N. & (Peggy) Burkett and his two grandchildren, Catherine and Nathan of Andover, Massachusetts; sister, Martha Burkett Voss of Toledo and many close and wonderful friends who stood by his side. Friends and family will be received at the Islamic Center in Perrysburg Tuesday, May 17th at 12:30pm followed by prayers at 1:30pm. He will be laid to rest with his Mother, Father and sister (Sondra) at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
