Micah Thomas Vandergrift

Micah was born on April 4, 1995 in Toledo, OH and remained a resident throughout his life. Micah was an avid reader. One of his many favorite authors was Mark Twain. Micah loved all types of music and attended many shows. Micah loved the outdoors and nature. He loved biking, and walking the trails. He had a thirst for knowledge and wanted to learn about anything and everything about every topic. He enjoyed going to art museums and would often go by himself. He loved traveling and exploring. When he was in high school he went to France and considered living there at one time. Micah was a fitness enthusiast, he worked out every single day. Micah also enjoyed stand-up comedy. He actually performed locally a few times last year. Micah was quick witted and hilarious. He had the best laugh. He was always joking around. Micah's heart was as big as his smile. He helped anyone that ever needed anything or even if they didn't. He loved his family fiercely, to say that he was a devoted, loving son would be an enormous understatement. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved parents, Mike and Shelly Vandergrift; Grandparents, Thomas Okonski (Crystal), Earlene Yocum (Rich), and Burman Vandergrift, Sr.; Uncles, Jeff Okonski and Jason Okonski (Nicci); siblings, Cody and Brittany Vandergrift; and many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of cherished friends. Micah's family will receive friends during a time of visitation, with strict social distancing requirements, on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 4-9 P.M. at the Walker Funeral Home, where a celebration of his life will begin at 7 P.M. During this time of global pandemic, out of concern for their family and friends, the Vandergrift family kindly asks that those in attendance please wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either The Nature Conservancy or to Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter.
