Mervin G. Pratt, affectionately known as "Bud," passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 93 at Heatherdowns Rehab and Residential in Toledo, OH. Bud was born on May 2, 1931 in Maumee, OH to Theodore Louis and Helen (Cooper) Pratt. Bud's life was a testament to hard work, kindness, and unwavering support for those around him.
Bud served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy, where he studied at the US Naval School and became a Command Certified Machinist's Mate Class A at the Service School. Bud later met and married the love of his life, Eva Baggett, in 1982 in Norfolk, VA. His dedication to his work extended beyond his naval service, as he engaged in surveying, roofing, and various labor tasks, always finding ways to lend a helping hand.
A man of many interests, Bud enjoyed playing board games, driving to explore new places, and engaging in card games. His love for ice cream, yogurt, and all kinds of food was well-known among his family and friends. Bud's generosity knew no bounds; he was always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vivin and her husband Ray, and his stepson John. He is survived by his beloved wife Eva, his stepson Robert, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who will cherish his memory.
Bud's legacy of kindness, hard work, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
