Merle Jean Snodgrass

Merle Jean Bairstow Snodgrass left this life June 7, 2017. Born in Duluth, Minnesota To Paul and Eva Bairstow, she grew up in Cleveland Heights, OH. An excellent student, she graduated from Miami University where she met her future husband, Clyde G. Snodgrass of Defiance, OH. They married in 1948 and moved to Toledo a few years later. Merle especially enjoyed summers spent at the family cottage at Lake George, MI. Merle will always be remembered by friends, family and neighbors as a smiling and gracious hostess for the many parties and gatherings she hosted. She was a great and supportive friend. For those who knew her she was always one of the nicest people they knew. She was a wonderfully supportive mother to her two children Paul W. Snodgrass and Janet M. Snodgrass. Merle’s husband Clyde, preceded her in death as did her brother, Paul J. Bairstow. She is survived by her two children, Paul and Jan; granddaughter, Andrea Snodgrass and grandson, John Ducat. A private celebration of Merle’s life will be at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Cherry Street Mission of Toledo, Miami University and Macular Degeneration Research.
