Mercedes G. Alvarez

Mercedes G. Alvarez Palacios, age 87, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Mercedes was born August 10, 1930 in Nicaragua. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and her church family at Iglesia El Buen Pastor, where she was a member. Mercedes became a sister, a mother, and a grandmother to many who met her. Mercedes is survived by her husband, Leopoldo Alvarez; grandchildren, Orlando (Christina) Mendoza, Jeanette Aburto Palacios, Augusto C. Aburto Palacios, Margot Y. Aburto Palacios; brother, Adan Palacios; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Donna, Stephanie, Wilberto, Jr., Kimberly, Yamilet, Julio, Axel, and Mileydi. Mercedes was preceded in death by her mother, Socorro Palacios; daughter, Teresa Y. Palacios; and grandson, Wilberto G. Mendoza. Visitation will be take place on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.).
