Melvin Charles Mel Boucher, age 83, died May 19, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania . He was born June 22, 1932 in Toledo to the late Charles and Alta (Clinker) Boucher. A 1950 graduate of Bryan (OH) High School, Mel served in the United States Army from 1952-54 during the Korean War. He was employed with Ohio Bell for 33 years, first as a lineman and then retiring as a test board manager. He was a member of the American Legion Conn-Weissenberger Post 587, Elks Lodge 53, Sylvania. Mel was an avid investor and saver, and proudly frugal. He played pool, was a prolific card player, enjoyed golf (he once got a hole in one) and loved his Manhattans. He was a health fanatic, exercising regularly and loved to tell jokes. Mel will also be remembered for his gregarious, outgoing personality and his positive approach to life. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Janice; daughters, Debra Boucher and Lory Fabian; son, James Boucher (Kim); grandchildren, Katherine, Louis and Kiana; and sister, Shirley Taylor (Duane). Mel was preceded in death by sisters, Blanche, Kerdilla and Mary; and brothers, James and Robert. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a celebration of life ceremony at 12:00 p.m. Military honors will conclude the services. Memorials are suggested to Ebeid Hospice.
