Melvin Eugene Boes

Melvin Eugene Boes, age 67, of Swanton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the University of Toledo Medical College. He was born on December 30, 1946 in Fostoria, Ohio to Edward and Emma Haase Boes. Mel was a Financial Planner for Glass City Federal Credit Union and was very proud of the services that he provided to his clients. He was an active member at Monclova Road Baptist Church and also ministered to those in a local nursing home and performed holiday concerts at a retirement center in Fostoria. Mel enjoyed music and playing the trombone, but his greatest joy was his family. He was actively involved in his childrens and grandchildrens lives. Mel is survived by his wife, Susan Miller Boes; mother, Emma Wickard; son, Mark and Heather Boes Tyler and Austin; daughter, Angie and Dan Galliers Ashley, Jessica and Zane; daughter, Jackie Dan Ledyard Grant, Chelsea and Blake; son, Brian and Alisha Boes. Also surviving are brother, Norman Nancy Boes; sister, Narda Chuck LeMay; brother, Len Tammy Boes and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Boes and step-father, Merle Wickard. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Monclova Road Baptist Church, 7819 Monclova Road, Monclova, Ohio on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Following the gathering, a celebration of Mels life will be held at 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monclova Road Baptist Church.
