Melvin J. Billmaier, age 92, of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on January 7, 1918 to Alphonse and Lilly Rippinger Billmaier. Melvin was a WWII Army Veteran who served a 5 year length of service and was stationed in Panama for 3 years as a photographer at base operations. He worked at many jobs over the years including being a meter reader in Maumee and retired from L.O.F. now known as Pilkington in Rossford, OH. Melvin was a machinist and in retirement started his own business, Maumee Model Car and Foundry. He was a member of the American Legion Post 320 and Northwest Ohio Live Steamers. He is survived by his sons, Harvey, Joseph F. Julie and Miles Pamela Billmaier; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Delores, Clarence, Madonna and Leonard. He was preceded in the death by his wife Catherine, parents, infant son and brothers, Paul and Gerard. Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee on Friday, April 23, 2010, from 5-8 PM. Graveside services will be held for Melvin and Catherine on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of the donors choice.
