Melanie Tremonti

Melanie “Dollie” Tremonti passed away September 10, 2023 at the age of 94, peacefully at home. She was surrounded by her children, 8 grandchildren and all 7 great grandchildren; a testament to the legacy she created with her late husband, Norman Tremonti.

She was born April 5, 1929 in Detroit. She grew up in the Down River Area settling in Allen Park, MI where she raised her three sons and daughter, Gregory, Brian, David and Gail. An amazing mother who inspired her children to be unapologetically themselves, something we should all strive to be.

Her last moments were spent listening to her devoted children tell colorful stories of their youth, loving her till the end.

Melanie was also a very involved grandmother and great grandmother. She called every birthday, attended every big life event and passed down some incredible advice. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her driving tips as the “Dollie School of Driving”.

She was adored by all of them. Her last day she was able to meet her newest great grandchild, have one last glass of wine with her grandchildren and watch her great grandchildren play outside her window with the same tenacity and vitality as her.

She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed teas at the Manor House.

She was always the most charming person in the room with trailblazing fashion sense and a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she kept her 12 foot Christmas tree up year round surrounded by hundreds of nutcrackers, and decorations galore. A visitor commented “A trip to Melanie’s house was like going to Frankenmuth”.

She loved Barbie Dolls, Beanie Babies, Danielle Steele novels (all 200), Lady Bugs, travel and shopping, especially Flea Markets.

Melanie had a memory like a steel trap, always had her nails done and a story to tell.

She loved watching Hallmark Movies, especially all the Christmas ones, and listening to Elvis and Frank Sinatra. She did it her way till the very end. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Friends are welcome to join the family for Dollie’s Holiday Tea Pary Friday, December 29, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Walker Funeral Homes, 5155 West Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH.
