Maurice "Marve" A. Rotondo

Jan 21, 1948 — Oct 20, 2026

Maurice "Marv" Rotondo died on October 20, 2026, under Ashanti Hospice Care at Otterbein Sunset Village, due to complications from heart and kidney disease.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Nick Rotondo and Virginia (Diterlizzi) Rotondo on January 21st, 1948, the third of five siblings.

Marv was co-captain of the 1965 Whitmer High School football team and graduated in 1966. He played four years of college football at The Defiance College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970. He was drafted into the army upon graduation and served as a Chaplain's Assistant in Vietnam. When he returned, he began his teaching career in Toledo Public Schools for 2 years, taught at Whitmer for 3 years, and spent the next 33 years at Ottawa Hils High School teaching anatomy and physiology, botany, and zoology. He coached football, girls track, softball, and was the president of the teachers' union for 22 years. While teaching at Ottawa Hills he was presented with several awards including: Martha Holden Jennings Scholar, I Make a Difference Award in 1994, twice in 1997, Ottawa Hills Hall of Fame Foundation Award 2011, and the Whitmer Golden Apple Award in 2012.

He earned a Master of Education in 1977 and Education Specialist degree in 1981, both from The University of Toledo.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Nick and Virginia Rotondo, and his two brothers, Nick and Tony. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Cindy (Kidd) Rotondo, brother Frank (Fran) of Mobile, AL, sister Laura of Sylvania, OH, sister-in-law Peggy Rotondo of PA, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and special golfing friends, Gary and John.

Fittingly, with his strong commitment to teaching anatomy and physiology, Marv has donated his body to UTMC.

In memory of Marv, consider taking a nature walk, playing a round of golf, going for a bike ride, or enjoying a nice Italian meal.

In following Marv's wishes, no services will be held. The family suggests any donations be made to The Toledo Humane Society, specifically for guinea pigs.
