Maurice W. Ludwig

Maurice W. Ludwig, age 89, passed away Monday February 28, 2011 at Flower Hospital. The son of Clyde and Mary, he was born March 18, 1921 in Eaton Rapids, MI. Maurice married the love of his life Bernadine Deal on Nov. 28, 1941. In 1943, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served as a radar operator aboard the USS Arkansas. Maurice was the recipient of 4 Bronze Stars while serving in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatres. After he was honorable discharged he began his career at E.I. Dupont and retired as a Lab Technician after 36 years in 1982. In his younger years he enjoyed fly single engine planes. Later he began a fulfilling hobby of antique car collection and restoration. As an accomplished antique car enthusiast he was very accomplished and was a member of the VMCCA Antique Car Club Black Swamp Chapter. Maurice was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bernadine; children, Wayne Sandy Tom Sue Ludwig; grandchildren, Brian Kim Ludwig, Lorraine Kevin Gritten, Rushel Carper,; great grandchildren, Christopher Ludwig, Alyssa Carper, Charissa Helm, Branden Ludwig, Brandon Rahman, Cameron Ludwig; great great grandson, Carson Ludwig; sister, Annie Dick Lewandowski; brother, Fred Hille; brother-in-law, Richard Majewski; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Hille and sister, Ellen Majewski. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 2-9 PM at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home 501 West St. Genoa, OH where services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Pauls Lutheran Church 428 N. Erie St. Toledo, OH 43624.
