Matthew Sampson, 23, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023. He was born on April 11, 2000, to his loving parents, Steven and Jennifer (Bond) Sampson. Matt began his life ready to go, being born 8 weeks prematurely and beginning to speak in full sentences by the time he was 14 months old. This trend continued throughout his life as he was always eager to try new things. Matt was an excellent wakeboarder, played golf and hockey, and quickly picked up on any sport he tried. He was an adrenaline junkie and outgoing, making friends easily and growing relationships with his humor and charisma.
Matt was an aspiring musician, rapping about his life and struggles with his band, Mortua. He was a deep thinker, and this showed in his music. He loved to travel to Gulf Shores, Al and Lakeside, OH with his extended family, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Devil's Lake in MI.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Steven and Jennifer Sampson; brother, Michael Sampson; grandparents, Gerald and Judy Sampson, and Suzanne Bond; aunt and uncle, John and Janet (Bond) Bragg; cousins, Julia, Jessica, and Jacob Bragg; along with numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Richard Bond.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 2-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH, where a Funeral Service will take place Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
