Matthew R. Matt Murray

Matthew R. Murray, 45, of Curtice, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday afternoon, May 25, 2017, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born December 22, 1971, in Oregon, Ohio, to Donald R. and Lois J. (Romstadt) Murray. Matt was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of the United States Air Force, where he met his wife, Mechele; and on April 23, 1993, in Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, they were married. They had two daughters together, Meranda and Kaitlin. Throughout his life, Matt was not afraid to live his life to the fullest. He loved driving fast and flying high. Matt loved going to the Keys to go fishing along the Seven Mile Bridge. Through all his health problems, he was a fighter. Matt was someone who, when he put his mind to something, would not give up. He was a great man who will truly be missed. In addition to his wife, Mechele, Matt is survived by his daughters, Meranda (Eddie) Resendz of Northwood and Kaitlin Murray of Troutwood, OH; grandsons, Anton Derringer and Zayden Resendz; brother, Jim (Terri) Murray of Curtice; parents, Don and Lois of Curtice, and in-laws, Don and Diana Masem of South Vienna, OH; niece and nephew, Natalie and Tyler Murray; and grandmother, Rosann Murray or Oregon. His grandparents, Leo and Dorothy Romstadt and Lowell Murray, preceded him in death. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1105 Elliston Trowbridge Rd., Martin (Bono). A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the Mass in the church hall. The family has requested no flowers and would like memorials for Matt to be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551; or Jerusalem Twp. Vol. Fire Dept., 9501 Jerusalem Rd., Curtice, OH 43412. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
