The light of our family’s life, Matthew John Farley, 50, of Millbury, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017. We are assured there were great reunions happening in Heaven on that day. There are not enough words to express our grief, or the blessing we feel for having had him in our lives. He was born on June 29, 1966 to Jack and Ferne Farley of Millbury. They made sure that Matt had the richest, fullest life available to him. He was a graduate of Wood Lane School where he played basketball, participated in the Special Olympics, and enjoyed many friendships. Matt was never limited by his circumstances. He had traveled extensively – West Virginia and Oklahoma being favorite destinations. In his mind, he had been a lawyer and presidential candidate, however, he had actually worked at The Flying J truck stop and McDonald’s in recent years. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family, traveling with his dad and brother to gun shows, and eating at Bob Evans whenever possible. He was a devoted member of Mainstreet Church where he had been active in the youth group, and where he leaves behind many friends and great memories. Matt was gifted at making loving friendships easily and inspiring everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ferne; brother, Jeffrey; and grandparents. He is survived by his father, Jack; siblings, Pamela (Bob) D’Amato, Gregory (Nan) Farley, Melanie (the late David) Prala, Melinda (Rick) Hawley, Kevin Farley, Amanda (Thomas) Caldwell, Brett (Cherri) Farley, and Molly (Douglas) Leader. Friends will be received on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121). Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Mainstreet Church, 5465 Moline Martin Road, Walbridge, Ohio, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Thomas Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. In honor of the unconditional love and joy that Matt always gave, we will attempt to do the same. A special thank you to all the staff of Manor Care in Perrysburg who made the last year of Matt’s life as comfortable as they could. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wood Lane School or Mainstreet Church.
