Massy Anaya, 90, of Toledo, passed away peacefully early Wednesday, November 14 , 2018, following an extended illness. Mr. Anaya was a tool and die maker for Textile Leather Corp. in Toledo prior to his retirement. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 24, 1928 to Macedonio and Maria Anaya. Preceding Massy in death were his wife of 48 years, Rose (Trejo) Anaya, his parents, one son, Massy Joseph Anaya II, and one daughter, Deborah Kay, both of whom died shortly after birth. Also preceding him in death were all of his 16 siblings. Surviving are his two daughters, Christine Martinez of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Patricia (David) Weiskittel of Ada, Michigan, one son, Edward (Teresa) Anaya of Toledo, and six grandchildren, Jamie (Diontae) Torrez, Monica and Lisa Anaya, Mario Martinez, Lindsay (Christopher) Monette and Jaclyn (Brian) Small, great-grandchildren Emanuel Anaya, Izabella Torrez and Ethan Small. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Rafael Gonzales and Roger Trejo, sister-in-law, Azcena Guerrero, beloved nieces Maryann and Gloria Arriaga and many other loving nieces and nephews. Massy never met a person he didn’t consider a friend. His personality was so endearing and he had a unique humbleness about him. He will long be remembered for his compassion, not just for his family, but for friends and acquaintances as well. A memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018, with family greetings starting at 10:30 a.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43623, with a luncheon to follow at the Toledo/Sylvania Elks Lodge #53. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio or the American Diabetes Association.
