Mary Agnes Macdonald Zak

Mary Agnes Zak, 78, of Oregon, OH passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Orchard Villa. She was born on August 22, 1938 to Alexander and Eleanor (Young) MacDonald in Buffalo, New York. She married the love of her life, Zenith, in January of 1958. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Zenith W. Zak. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael (Pam) Zak, Stephen (Pamella) Zak, Thomas (Theresa) Zak, Martin (Angela) Zak; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. In following with Mary’s wishes there will be no services. Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to: St. Louis Helping Hands, 443 Sixth Street, Toledo, Ohio 43605, or to the American Cancer Society, 6600 Sylvania Avenue, Suite 2a, Sylvania, OH. Arrangements are being handled by Hoeflinger - Shank Funeral Home (419-691-6768). Mary Zak will be missed by her family and friends. Those of us who loved her most will always smile when we think about her doing a little dance, and singing a little song. She was a professional mom who poured her soul into raising her four sons. After her boys grew into men, she ventured out to work on a Great Lakes freighter to work in the galley. There she shared her love for baking to the delight of the crew. Her life centered around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She prayed every day for their health, safety and happiness. She loved her husband through good times and bad. Like most, she had her challenges on this earth, and we have prayed for a while that mom would find peace either on earth or in heaven. Now we can all smile at the thought of Zen and Mary being together in a better place, watching the sun rise on a calm day, across the greatest lake in Heaven.
