Mary Ann Wilkins

Love cannot be measured, but it can be recognized and honored in the life of the beloved. Mary Ann Wilkins was loved beyond measure by her parents Clinton and Esther Swartzlander, her husband Henry J. Wilkins, her children Debbie Noggle, Kristie Schultheis, and Angela Wilkins, her son-in-law Pep Noggle, her eight grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren, and the countless people who understood the value of this precious woman's life. Mary Ann passed from this life while dreaming about things only she would know, in the early morning hours of June 27, 2026.

Born in 1929, she was raised in Genoa, Ohio, along with her three sisters; Elaine, Joyce, and Linda. They graduated from Genoa High School where Mary Ann excelled as a student, Comet cheerleader, band member, and sprinter on the track team. She was honored as the Salutatorian of the Class of '47 and fell in love with the talented and funny Henry J. Wilkins as they made sweet music together in the dance band. He sang like Frank Sinatra, and she played the slide trombone with the big band swing of Glenn Miller. They were married at St. John's in Genoa, in 1949.

Mary Ann worked in Downtown Toledo at LaSalle's while attending Toledo University, acquiring education and skills to become successful in the banking business. She began her career at The Bank of Elmore as a teller and worked her way up to executive positions with Mid-American National Bank and Trust, Sky Bank, and retiring as Branch Manager of The Huntington Bank in Genoa, all while raising her girls to become educated, faithful and successful in their own lives.

She loved her church family at St. John's in Genoa and was a groundbreaker on May 18, 1958, for the new sanctuary on Washington Street. Mary Ann and Henry served in many leadership positions in the congregation as faithful service to the church was core to their family's beliefs.

Mary Ann loved traveling with Henry whenever the mood struck them. She loved dancing with Henry, golfing with Henry, fishing with Henry, boating and water skiing with Henry on Lake Erie, and laughing herself silly at Henry's unending humor. They were perfectly matched and profoundly in love. After 53 years of love and laughter, Henry became terminally ill. She cared for him in the home they built together in Elmore, with the same devotion and deep affection she gave him when he was healthy and strong. She loved him deeply as he drew his last breath and loved him even more, twenty-five years later as she drew her own.

After Henry's passing, she traveled to New York City, Baltimore, Bloomington, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Miami, and throughout the Midwest to support her children and grandchildren. She attended weddings, college graduations, Medical School and Law School graduations, opera performances, club gigs, art shows, track meets, football games, new births and any occasion needing a grandmother's hug. Her presence was expected and cherished. She was never a backseat driver.

Mary Ann was the last member of her generational family to pass. She was so good, so loved, so representative of what God intended a woman to be. We will miss her loving ways, family dinners, wry smile, and unexpected zingers. We thank her for blessing us with the richness of her life. Our prayer for everyone is to be loved every day by someone who loved as deeply as Mary Ann. Our prayer for you is to be happy.

Mary Ann is survived by her children Debbie (Pep) Noggle, Kristie Schultheis, and Angela Wilkins (Mike Wray); grandchildren, Nathan (Angela) Noggle, Anna (Mario) Prcic, Amber Noggle (Charlton Foster), Dr. Joseph (Dr. Anise) Noggle, Jacqueline Greene (Brian Howe), Natalie Greene (Kevin Booher), Victor (Katie) Greene, and Tessa Greene; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Charlotte, Dalia, Dario, Layla, Daxton, Alexander, Peyton, Kenseley, Weston, Lucie, Vivienne, William, Jack Pep, Lucy, Margaux, Henry, Maeve, and Emma / Dae.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Walker Funeral Home, 501 West Street, Genoa, Ohio, Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. John's United Church of Christ 1213 Washington Street, Genoa, where the family will greet friends after 10:00 am. Interment: Clay Township Cemetery. Preferred Memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ.
