Mary Anne Tigges, 91, of Maumee, died peacefully Saturday at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, following a short illness. She was surrounded by close friends and family. In April, she received birthday wishes in cards and Facebook messages at her much-loved home overlooking the Brandywine Country Club, where she played golf for many years. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital and the St. Pauls Episcopal Church food pantry. She loved gardening, birds, and animals. In March, she lost her beloved Sheltie, Molly, her companion for many walks in Side Cut Park. She was born April 25, 1927, in Perrysburg, to Aaron W. and Mary Imogene (Griggs) Richardson. Following college she taught in Sand Creek, Michigan and Clarenceville, Michigan, returning to Ohio to teach in Waterville at Anthony Wayne High School until 1956. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Tigges, who predeceased her in 1999 after 47 years of marriage. Mary Anne and Ken loved entertaining friends and family; golfing; and travel, especially to Berea, Kentucky, and Captiva Island, Florida, where they enjoyed renewing longtime friendships during winter vacations. Mary Anne was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. In recent years, she was involved in many organizations, especially St. Lukes Hospital and her church. She was a member of the Brynwyck Garden Club, the Brandywine Country Club, Samagama Club of Presidents, and the presidents clubs at Bowling Green State University and Berea College.
