Mary Betty Thompson

Mary Betty Thompson, 81, of Genoa, died Sunday evening, April 24, 2011, in Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. She was born February 23, 1930, in Genoa, Ohio, to Michael and Mary Geller Harsanje. On November 23, 1950, in Genoa she married Oldia Ollie C. Thompson and he preceded her in death April 18, 1978. Betty was a homemaker and loved to cook. She also enjoyed crocheting and needlework. She had been an active member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa, where she sang in the church choir in her earlier years and had worked with the Ruthenians. Betty is survived by her sons, Michael Mary Thompson, Ollie Bud Thompson and James E. Thompson, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brothers, Emery Lois and Vincent Georgina Harsanje, sister-in-law, Betty Jane Harsanje, and special friend, Neil Hesselbart. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Mary Susan Troutt, and brothers, Michael, Richard, Eugene Donald Lucille Harsanje. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2011, 2-8 p.m., in the Robinson Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2011, in the funeral home with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
