Mary Alice Wolf Myrt Streeter

Mary Alice Myrt Streeter, 91, of Port Clinton, OH passed away, Monday, January 07, 2013. She was born June 30, 1921 in Port Clinton, OH, the daughter of William F. and Clara A. Hoffman Wolf. On June 8, 1946 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she married Clarence H. Streeter and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1994. The nickname of Myrt fit her well. She enjoyed a good joke and with a twinkle in her eye didnt mind telling a bad one. Myrt was a casual, relaxed person who got things done without fluster or flurry. She held dear her family, friends, church and community and will be greatly missed by all. A lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church, Mary Alice also was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School. She served on the sacristan committee, the Altar Rosary Society, the Lady of Fatima Study Club, the Christ Renews His Parish team and the RCIA team, where she helped prospective members in their preparation to join her beloved Church. She also was an active member and past president of the Child Guidance Council. She was named Port Clinton Woman of the Year in 1967. A former physical education major, Mary Alice taught swimming at the city beach, East Harbor State Park and Port Clinton High school. She volunteered for the American Red Cross in the lifesaving programs and the Blood Mobile program. She held a lifetime membership in the Magruder Hospital Auxiliary as well as memberships in the Port Clinton Yacht Club, Moose Lodge #1610 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Elks Lodge #1718 Auxiliary. Mary Alice is survived by her loving children: Mary Jo Joseph Brenner of Oconomowoc, WI; William W. Melody Streeter of Racine, WI; Patricia A. David Soderberg of Port Clinton; Martha J. Jeffrey Cox of Lower Burrell, PA; and Carol F. Gregory Fox of Port Clinton. She is further survived by grandchildren: Joseph Christine Brenner, William Brenner, Todd Streeter, Caleb Streeter, Benjamin Soderberg, Joshua Kimberly Soderberg, Ann Soderberg, Sarah Robert Reifschneider, Daniel Cox, Brian Cox and Joseph Cox and great-grandchildren: Joseph, Maxwell and Marcella Brenner and Wyatt Soderberg. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers; James, Richard and George Wolf, step-brother Tom McRitchie and nephew David Wolf. The family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation for the many thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness extended by relatives, friends and neighbors during the illness of our dear mother. Also we would like to thank her caregivers and especially Stein Hospice. Visitation will be Friday, January 11 from 2 to 8p.m. in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Father John Missler on Saturday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Port Clinton. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or The American Red Cross.
